Local Information About Our RFKC-Arvada Camp
Annually, 3 million cases of child abuse, neglect or abandonment are reported according to United States government information. Our camp follows the Royal Family Kids' Camps, Inc., blueprint. RFKC was founded by Wayne and Diane Tesch in Orange County California in 1985. Our campers are transported by commercial bus to camp on Monday morning and return on Friday afternoon at 3:00. A targeted one adult to one camper ratio provides close supervision as well as lots of caring attention for each child. All campers experience a week of positive memories and patient wisdom from trained, caring Christian adults. Our camp facility accommodates up to 75 7-11 year old boys and girls. We take as many campers as the number of volunteers and amount of funds allow. We, the volunteers of RFKC, have experienced that this one week of positive experiences and role models can aid in healing the scars of abuse and give campers hope and the strength to survive his/her present circumstances. Most importantly, as campers grow they can make choices which will stop the cycle of abuse and provide a foundation for a positive future. The week of camp also gives a much-needed respite to foster parents. Please consider volunteering at camp Children with any spiritual background are eligible to attend camp. No child is forced to accept particular religious beliefs. These young campers 'blossom' when they come to understand their identities are not defined by their past or their circumstances, but defined by a God who infinitely values them! Each camp is staffed by volunteers who complete extensive screening and training. Locally, most campers are referred to us by Jefferson County Social Services. Each camp activity is designed to ensure fun, build a record of success and develop confidence within each camper. The children are provided gifts, encouraging letters and a memory photo album so that the camp will remain in their hearts for years to come. As campers understand that their future is more compelling than their past, they are significantly impacted and transformed! To register a camper, click here Next RFKC Camp Dates: June 2009
